Welcome to the bakery for dogs!
Every year Three Dog Bakery Omaha throws a Growl-O-Ween party to raise money for the Nebraska Humane Society. Over 130 dogs attend in costume to have a "paw"rific time raising money for animals that haven't found their forever home yet. Upon checking in at the registration table on the day of the event (Oct. 24) each dog will be given a special trick-or-treating bag. We do ask that you pre-register online or by calling the store so that we have a paw count....we'd hate to run out of treats! The suggested donation per dog for the Nebraska Humane Society is $10. After the winners of the costume contest are announced the trick-or-treating will begin (probably around 12:45). "Paw"ticipating Village Pointe merchants will hand out Three Dog Bakery treats. When you check in you will be given your dogs trick-or-treating bag and a map of the stores to stop at.
De"tails"
Growl-O-Ween will be Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 11 to 2
After registering have your dog play some games while waiting for the costume contest judging to begin. There will be games like Pin the Tail on the Cat (don't worry not a real cat), Bobbing for Beagle Bagels, and the Candy Corn Catch. The judges will be walking around this year and picking their top 5 for each category. They will then call them up on stage to narrow it down (around 12:30). If your dog isn't interested in playing games then check out the raffle table.
The raffle table will have some grrrreat prizes like a new Bagel Bed from Bessie & Barnie (Chuckles and Maurice's favorite bed), a gift certificate from Dogtopia, $25 gift card to Village Pointe and so much more! Raffle tickets are only $1 each or bring a sack of food for the Nebraska Humane Society. For every pound of food you bring you will be given one raffle ticket.
"The donations will go into our Pet Food Pantry to be distributed to pets whose owners have fallen on hard times. Dry kibble and canned or soft cat and dog (pup and kitten too) is all very appreciated. We can also use kitty litter! If people have opened bags of food that their pet doesn't like or can no longer eat we will take those (we ask that they are taped up so they don't spill) as long as they are not expired. This could not have come at a better time because our shelves are low and in the past couple of months we've actually had to send some owners away empty handed--but told them to return in a couple of days and we will hopefully be able to help! We would much rather help pet owners keep their animals than to have them turn them in to us--it's much better for the pets and the people!" - Pam Wiese, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations, Nebraska Humane Society
