A tail-wag as you walk in the door. A constant cuddle companion. A big, slobbery smooch. Our four-legged friends give us so much everyday – of course we want to give back to them the very best we can! If there’s one thing we’ve learned it’s that the best way to reach your pup is through its' belly – either with food or a good, old-fashioned tummy rub. Since drool-worthy, all-natural, oven-baked doggie delicacies are our specialty – the tummy rubbing is up to you.
In putting together the best, all-natural ingredients we admit, we had a little help. Our team consulted with vets, breeders, pet shop owners, pet lovers and even held our own in-house focus groups (the girls loved every minute of it). The results were conclusive. The ingredients make the difference – using healthier ingredients means healthier, more energetic dogs.
We do want to warn you, there may come a time when you get a little jealous of your dog. Who wouldn’t? Just a whiff of our rich and nutty peanut butter and you might find yourself drooling too. The thought of our sweet and delectable carob chip cookies has been known to set our legs kicking with delight. And that’s just scratching the surface of the ingredients we offer in our all-natural, oven-baked goodies.
Take a minute to read some more about our individual ingredients and learn how they lead to happier, healthier dogs (and jealous owners).

It happens to all of us: We just get that urge to eat some sweet, delicious chocolate. How could you not? We’d all love to share that amazing taste with our dogs, but we can’t. So carob is a dog-friendly substitute for chocolate. With all the same great sweet richness that makes chocolate a delight to eat, carob is made from the bean pods of the carob tree. It is 100% natural and 100% healthy for dogs and even gives them some pretty great health benefits.
Carob contains as much vitamin B1 as asparagus or strawberries; the same amount of niacin as lima beans, lentils, or peas; and more vitamin A than eggplant, asparagus, and beets. It's also high in vitamin B2, calcium, magnesium, and iron. So next time you’re sitting on the couch treating yourself to some tasty chocolate, don’t forget about your canine companion, throw a little Carob his way – you can indulge together.

Three Dog Bakery is based in the heart of the nation’s wheat belt, allowing our team of experts to doggedly track down the freshest, most wholesome, all-natural ingredients available right here in the USA. Whole grains such as wheat are rich in dietary fiber, antioxidants, protein, dietary minerals (including magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, and selenium) and vitamins (including niacin, vitamin B6, and vitamin E).
Wheat forms the base of many of our foods and treats for its high nutritional value. Some claim that dogs can be allergic to wheat. In our research, we’ve found that many times the culprit isn’t wheat itself but the poor quality of wheat used in many dog foods and treats—poor-quality wheat that’s been processed and mixed with unnatural preservatives and additives. We use 100% all-natural wheat, no additives, no preservatives—and less allergies!

Besides tasting great, blueberries are packed with all sorts of things to keep your pup feeling far from blue. Blueberries contain antioxidants, fiber, manganese, vitamin K, and certain compounds found in blueberries have been discovered to reduce stroke damage in animals. Also, blueberries can help to keep your pup fit because of their ability to lower cholesterol, which in turn can help improve and even reverse signs and symptoms of heart disease

An apple a day keeps the vet away! At Three Dog Bakery we like apples, how they taste, and what they can do for your pup’s health. By including all-natural apples in our recipes, we give your pooch a high level of nutritious, gour”mutt” flavor.
Apples are high in vitamin C, as well as a host of other antioxidant compounds. The fiber content, while less than that of most other fruits, helps regulate bowel movements. Apples also help in controlling cholesterol because they contain no cholesterol and plenty of fiber (which helps reduce cholesterol by preventing resorption). How do ya like them Apples!

When we say cranberries, we’re not talking about the red gel that comes out of a can on Thanksgiving. We’re talking about red, ripe berries bursting with benefits for your pooch. Cranberries contain powerful antioxidants that benefit the cardiovascular system and immune system. Also, cranberries have been known to reverse the effect of plaque and prevent tooth decay. Did we mention they taste pretty good too?

If you don’t like eggs, the yolk’s on you! But seriously, bad jokes aside, an important ingredient for Three Dog Bakery is the egg. The egg is jam-packed with enough protein, vitamins, and minerals to have your pup running faster than a greyhound (unless it is a greyhound, in that case it’ll just run even faster!).
The egg is a great natural source for a large supply of proteins and provides significant amounts of several vitamins and minerals including vitamin A, riboflavin, folic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, choline, iron, calcium, phosphorus, and potassium. The egg is also one of the few foods that naturally contains vitamin D. You could say that we love eggs, from our head down to each one of our four legs!

Garlic isn’t just an effective way to ward off vampires, it’s also a great way to ward off disease, parasites, and stress. This great tasting, all-natural spice is added to many of our foods for its great taste and its amazing effects on your dog’s health. Garlic is also beneficial in preventing heart disease, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure while improving the immune system. Not bad, huh?
Garlic is an effective antibiotic, anti-fungal, and anti-viral agent. In fact, since garlic increases the body's resistance to infection and stress, just adding a little garlic to your pup's grub is sure to keep the tail wagging for years to come.

When we create a new recipe that needs just a touch of sweetness we turn to our favorite, all-natural sweetener: honey. Nothing tastes better than adding a little honey to your dog’s special treats. To you, honey may just seem sticky and sweet; but to us, it’s an important part of your dog’s health. Honey is chock-full of vitamins and minerals like B6, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, and zinc. Try saying that five-times fast!

Milk is such a great source for so many things like calcium and protein. Our recipes use milk to provide good, nutritious, all-natural flavor to our oven-baked products—and we think dogs can really taste the difference. With each bite of our baked goods, your canine companion is being fortified with vitamins and minerals that will make him happy and healthy.
Milk contains numerous vitamins and minerals such as vitamins D and K, which are essential for bone health; vitamin B12, potassium, magnesium, and riboflavin, which promote cardiovascular health and energy production; as well as biotin and pantothenic acid, which are B vitamins that are also important for energy production. With all that extra energy, your pup will be able to chase his tail for hours!

Molasses may be a little slow, but it does wonders in the kitchen. Molasses is made during the sugar refining process and is commonly used (by us) to sweeten foods. Here’s what people don’t realize: Molasses is great for your dogs. Molasses is a great source for iron, copper, manganese, potassium, and magnesium. Although molasses is slow, your pup won’t be!

Call us purists. Or even call us crazy. The peanut butter used in all of our products is made of 100% peanuts. Nothing else. No extra sweeteners, preservatives, or anything unnatural. We’ve packed our peanut butter with so much pea-nuttyness that we have trouble getting the lid on the jar! For your pup, this means that he’s getting a great source of all-natural protein, a must for every dog’s diet.
But that’s not near the end of it. Peanut butter is also a great source of vitamin E – which is beneficial to preventing diseases. And if that wasn’t enough for you, your dog will be jumping heads over tails for this: Peanut butter is a super source for Biotin (vitamin H), which is said to be helpful for thin, splitting nails and good for the coat. So, if your pooch’s pelt is lacking in luster, the naturally occurring oils found in peanut butter will have him looking like a million barks.

After we found out about the powerful effect of the sage, you could say we’ve gone green at Three Dog Bakery! As part of our commitment to providing your dog with the best, all-natural ingredients around, we’ve begun using sage as an ingredient in our foods. Sage is renowned for its medicinal abilities; its name in Latin even means "to heal." Sage has been effective as an antibiotic, antifungal, and astringent. What a great way to keep your pooch in top shape.

The tomato has been around for centuries. Once thought to be a vegetable, it was eventually dogscovered to be a fruit. Tomato products, specifically tomato pastes and tomato purees, contain a naturally occurring antioxidant called Lycopene. Lycopene has the ability to neutralize free-radicals before these dangerous chemicals can cause the cells permanent damage. And that can be dogvastating!
If you grow tomatoes in your home garden, be sure to keep your dog away from the leaves and stems. They are potentially toxic. The fruit, however, is an excellent source of soluble fiber, a necessary part of every dog's diet. Plus, it's pawsitively packed full of nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin A, and lycopene. All of which are helpful in keeping your hound healthy. And that's something to howl about.

You know, here at Three Dog Bakery, we think Vanilla gets a bad rap. Too often people use it to describe something plain or boring. But we couldn’t see living without the sweet, all-natural extract! Made from the vanilla bean, whose sweet aromas are used in aromatherapy, a quick kiss of vanilla makes your dog’s treats taste and smell extra special and extra yummy.

All-natural, tail-waggin’, fetch-playin’ Protein. It’s fuel for your dog. We try to pack it in our food as many ways as we can. That’s why we add whey protein as an ingredient. Whey protein also contains high levels of amino acids, the building blocks to a healthy pooch. Pretty soon, your muscle-bound mutt will be taking you for a walk!

We wouldn’t call it our secret weapon, but using all-natural canola oil is an increasingly effective way to keep your hounds from gaining pounds. Originally created by our neighbors to the North, canola is a low-fat cooking oil that gives food a nice, clean taste. Food products manufactured with canola oil have higher levels of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, and significantly lower levels of saturated and trans fatty acids than more traditional products.
Canola oil's unique ratio of almost 2-to-1 Omega-6 to Omega-3 makes it the richest vegetable oil source of essential fatty acids. (In comparison, corn oil is approximately 55-to-1 Omega-6 to Omega-3.) By giving canola oil to your canines, you can help to increase their circulation, reduce joint tenderness, and maintain their healthy immune system. Plus, it's “terrier”ific for maintaining healthy skin and coat. So the next time your lab is licking his chops, unleash the power of canola!
